Rencontre avec le groupe Telli Turnalar, au festival de Sainte Croix en Jarez.
Pour le public qui ne vous connaît pas encore très bien, pouvez-vous nous donner quelques repères ? Comment vous êtes-vous rencontrées ?
Telli Turnalar veut dire en turc « grues cendrées ».Ce nom correspond parfaitement aux parcours croisés de chacune des membres du groupe : Cangül et Gülay Hacer viennent de Turquie (l’une kurde alévie de Pazarcık (Maraş), l’autre turque originaire de Gümüşhane) mais ont grandi en France. A l’inverse, Eléonore et Petra sont européennes (l’une française, l’autre polonaise) mais ont vécu à Istanbul.
Chaque membre du groupe s’est rencontré à des moments différents, mais toutes en Turquie. La rencontre entre Petra et Eléonore constitue une anecdote amusante : Petra travaillait en tant que serveuse au café du Consulat Français et Eléonore en était une cliente régulière. Un jour elles se croisent dans un autre contexte à Taksim, se reconnaissent, entament une conversation et s’aperçoivent qu’elles partagent de nombreux points communs, notamment l’amour de la musique d’Anatolie et du saz ! Pas de doute, c’est le kısmet (destin) qui les a réunies. Hacer et Eléonore rencontrent Cangül lors d’une visite au Erdal Erzincan Saz Kursu, où Cangül était élève à l’époque. Hacer rencontre Petra à Berlin chez leur amie commune, ancienne élève de Talip Özkan.. Là encore c’est le saz qui fait le lien.
Le premier concert que nous donnons était en fait dans le cadre d’un évènement précis. Au départ, il ne s’agissait pas de former un groupe, mais de réaliser un concert de soutien pour le projet de film Sazfilm, réalisé par le réalisateur français Stéphan Talneau et auquel Petra participe en tant qu’actrice principale. Le film, co-produit par la grande chaîne de télévision Arte, est finalement sorti en 2019, et a eu beaucoup de succès dans les festivals internationaux, y compris en Turquie (Istanbul Film Festival). Après cette première expérience réussie, nous décidons de former un groupe en 2016 et commençons par des concerts à l’étranger, l’un à Bruxelles et deux co au Maroc (Tétouan et Rabat).
Comment définissez-vous votre musique et quelles sont vos influences majeures?
Le répertoire du groupe est majoritairement anatolien mais ne se limite pas à une langue ou un style. Nous accordons une grande importance au fait de décloisonner les publics et de chanter dans les différentes langues d’Anatolie telles que le turc, le kurde, le zaza mais aussi l’arménien, le laze, le grec, le syriaque. Par amour pour le saz et la philosophie alévie, nous avons intégré de nombreux morceaux alévis en turc et en kurde à notre répertoire. Pour le Festival de musiques sacrées en Inde, nous avons même présenté un programme essentiellement mystique constitué de Semah, Tevhit, textes de Pîr Sultan Abdal, ilahi de Yunus Emre et d’autres ozan anciens ou contemporains (Davut Sulari, Kul Ahmet, Seyyed Nesimi, Şah Hatayi).
Mais nous intégrons également à notre répertoire tout ce qui a trait à la culture villageoise, notamment les türkü de différentes régions et bien sûr les halay ! (danses en chaîne).
Chaque vidéo que vous faites a des centaines de milliers de vues sur youtube, comment expliquez vous ce succès ?
On ne peut pas toujours expliquer les succès sur internet. Je pense que qui plaît aux gens est un tout : les morceaux, les arrangements, le côté assez « naturel » des prises de son et des vidéos, le fait que nous soyons quatre solistes et instrumentistes avec chacune son fort caractère réunies ensemble, le succès individuel de chacune en tant que soliste, la mixité du groupe, qui est assez rare (deux musiciennes de turquie, deux européennes réunies autour d’un même amour de ces musiques), Et bien sûr la rareté d’un tel groupe, notamment féminin joue en notre faveur.
Vous êtes installées dans des endroits différents, comment gérez vous votre calendrier de concerts ?
Nous nous retrouvons souvent avant ou après les concerts quelques jours pour créer ensemble, faire de nouvelles vidéos etc. 3 des membres du groupes sont en France donc nous essayons de nous voir et de faire avancer le groupe en-dehors des périodes de concerts.
Avez vous un album de prévu ?
Nous travaillons à l’élaboration de notre premier album. Nous en sommes actuellement à la phase de création (répertoire, arrangements).
Quels sont les projets du groupe pour les prochains mois ?
Avec la diminution de la crise sanitaire, nous avons pas mal de concerts de prévus au printemps : fin mars à Gand pour le festival du saz, le 27 avril à l’opéra de Lille, nous organisons également une date à Paris en suivant, en juillet à Vienne etc, sans compter tous ceux qui sont en cours de confirmation. Petra part en résidence artistique pour six mois à Istanbul donc nous irons sûrement la rejoindre là-bas pour continuer notre travail de création, et faire pourquoi pas des concerts et des programme télé.
